Unfortunately, the situation in Germany is rather limited. The regional heritage authorities tend to hold on tightly to their data, so there is little that can be done about that. As a result, one has to rely more heavily on international databases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How many findspots are still undiscovered beneath the ground? That is difficult to estimate. Quite possibly well over 30,000<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And many Roman coin findspots will probably never be discovered at all, as they lie beneath modern development or under meters of sediment deposited in river floodplains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
