Roman coins: Tens of thousands of entries

There are already quite a large number of Roman coins records in the database.
More than 20,000 Roman coin hoards and tens of thousands of coin types have already been integrated.
By summer, the total will most likely exceed 25,000 hoards.

Unfortunately, the situation in Germany is rather limited. The regional heritage authorities tend to hold on tightly to their data, so there is little that can be done about that. As a result, one has to rely more heavily on international databases.

How many findspots are still undiscovered beneath the ground? That is difficult to estimate. Quite possibly well over 30,000

And many Roman coin findspots will probably never be discovered at all, as they lie beneath modern development or under meters of sediment deposited in river floodplains.

It will be the task of future generations to collect, preserve, and bring together these valuable cultural and archaeological data of Roman coins.
